For some applications, I need an easy and intuitive way for students to select a geographic region for the data they wish to display. I decided to give Google Maps a try. Google offers a very nice API for accessing and manipulating their mapping tools, and with the proliferation of mapping and directions Web sites out there, I'm hoping that many students will already be familiar with how the interface works. Take a look at this working example. Not all parts of the form work yet, but you can drag the markers on the map to select a region and send a query to our Live Access Server.
