I'm pleased to announce that Data in the Classroom is now running our very own Live Access Server (Armstrong v.0.4 with Ferret v.6). Live Access Server (LAS) is a Web server specifically designed to deliver scientific data on the World-wide Web. LAS is a really nicely developed product with a lot of capability. However compared to a lot of server software I've worked with, it is not trivial to install and configure. I owe a bunch of folks at NOAA a big thanks for their help answering my questions over the past several weeks. Eventually I'll be developing a simplified, easy-to-use Web interface that will enable teachers and students to make queries to LAS and get back real-time data. For now however, you can try out our new LAS using the standard interface. |
